Events - Great Dorset Steam Fair

Wednesday 28th August to Sunday 1st September 2013.

We were asked by Martin Oliver of the Great Dorset Steam Fair to take the Allchin Steam Roller to the show and agreed after negotiating travel costs.

The Allchin joined other Council rollers out on display around the play pen - including:

Armstrong Whitworths



Marshalls, as well as a range of motor rollers large and small never seen before.

Some rollers not in steam from Germany, USA, Holland, France etc. were on display inside the Old Glory marquee.

Some only just found with bits missing.

On Saturday all the steam rollers took it in turns to roll a newly laid piece of road.

The W Allchin 1131 was the 50th roller across the road.

On the way to to the line up in the play pen area for a picture and the Guiness World Record Title for the largest parade of steam rollers consisting of 103 vintage steam rollers.

Monday 2nd September the roller on the low loader trailer supplied by J Maloney Transport and tractor unit supplied by S W Wreford & Sons - driven back by Nathan Skinner and parked up ready for a calendar photo shoot.
